Review & Description

The Hitachi Side-Load Roofing Nailer's magazine, depth of drive and bullet-proof design make it the perfect nailer to handle any jobsite condition. The NV45AB2 is ideal for various construction applications such as the installation of asphalt roofing shingles and the installation of insulation boards. Operating PSI: 70 - 120, Fasteners Used: Roofing nails, Fastener Sizes (in.): 7/8 - 1 3/4, Fastener Size (gauge): .120, Fastener Capacity Per Strip: 120, Adjustable Depth Control: Yes (tool-less), Coil or Strip: Coil, Inlet Size (in.): 3/8, Case Included: No, Tool Length (in.): 9 27/32, Tool Weight (lbs.): 5.5This tool’s daddy, the NV45AB, was a fine piece of machinery, but Hitachi took it back to the drawing board and after a few significant improvements, put this NV45AB2 coil roofing nailer on the market, where it collected awards and praise from all corners. Deserved, we think. There’s no more fiddling on the roof because the depth of drive adjustment is tool-free now, too. Hitachi dumped the racket-grip handle in favor of a great rubber grip which is much easier on the user. Rubber pads were incorporated into the metal body protectors, ensuring a firm grip on the shingles without slipping. Hitachi kept the best features of this nailer’s predecessor, too—-things like pneumatic feed and return (most nailers we’ve seen have spring return), which help power the tool through tar and buildup that might otherwise trigger a jam. Tough housing stands up to shingle scrapes, and a carbide-tipped push lever means long life for the tool’s nose. Even at a nice, light 5.2 pounds, this workhorse fires an impressive three nails per second. Roofers will like the changes.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste Read more

Review & Description

Hitachi NV45AB2 Roofing Nailer, Coil, Wire Collation -Side LoadTechnology is the common thread behind the Hitachi brand. It's what makes Hitachi products superior in design and durability. From its birth, Hitachi has pioneered innovative technologies that have improved lives around the world. This knowledge is shared across all Hitachi divisions worldwide and is incorporated into applications that benefit many different products.Hitachi NV45AB2 Roofing Nailer, Coil, Wire Collation -Side Load Features:; 5.5lbs, lightweight and well balanced for easy maneuverability ; Side loading magazine, convenient and easy for quick replenishment ; Tool-less depth of drive adjustment, for precision nailing/flush driving ; Carbide tipped push lever, reduces wear ; Rubber pads, help keep nailer from sliding off roof when not in use ; Quick driving, for maximum efficiency ; Pneumatic power feed and return, allows tool to operate in the harshest conditions ; Long-lasting rubber grip, for added comfort Includes:; Safety GlassesMany power tools are not designed with protection and consequently spend their lives getting bumped around on the job site. Hitachi's coil roofing nailer is an exception. This nailer has two metal plates, or what Hitachi calls Steel Body Wear Protectors, at the back and front of the machine that act as bumpers to protect the tool's condition and extend its life--which makes sense, when you think of the beating a roofing nailer is subjected to. No question about it, Hitachi's NV45AB is a good gun. We like the way the nailer fires, the guide plate that helps keep nails flush, and how the rubber safety valve in the nosepiece keeps debris out. The grip's great: it's wrapped around the handle and made of a porous rubber that really sticks to your hand so you don't have to worry that sweating will take a toll on comfort or productivity. And of all the nailers we've looked at, this one's definitely in the running for most handsome, with a nice silver finish. But don't buy it for how it looks; this nailer's solid feel and action are reason enough. --Michael Shilling Read more

Review & Description

Milwaukee's Heavy-Duty Coil Roofing Nailer features an ultra lightweight magnesium housing to minimize fatigue. Its compact size offers greater maneuverability. The Load-N-Go magazine holds 120 galvanized wire collated nails from 3/4 in. to 1-3/4 in. length and .120 in. diameter. A magnet holds the nail in place making loading fast and efficient. The thick rubber guards minimize housing damage. The tool-free depth of drive protects from overdriving nails. The self-cleaning air filter extends life by preventing dirt and debris from entering the tool. The adjustable air deflector with muffler directs exhaust away from the work area and holds down the noise. The textured selectable trigger lets you move from sequential or contact actuation by simply turning a knob. A removable shingle guide assists in quick shingle alignment. This coil roofing nailer is one of seven new heavy-duty air-powered nailers from the venerable Milwaukee, and the whole series is another testament to the red label’s unflagging quality.

At the top of our list is how incredibly light Milwaukee’s nailers are, even fully loaded, and their compact size makes them a cinch to tote and use, especially in awkward positions. But a close second is the clever inclusion of a magnet that holds onto the nails as you’re loading and significantly speeds up the process, reducing fumbling and dropped fasteners. Another big tip of the hat to Milwaukee for incorporating both sequential and bump firing modes, accessible just by turning a knob, so when speed is a need, you’re ready to go, but precision is at your fingertips too. We like the quality built into this tool, from the magnesium housing to the rugged rubber bumper guard that protects your investment should the tool take a fall. The hassle-free replaceable nosepiece has hard-wearing carbide inserts, and there’s even a self-cleaning air filter in the tool handle, keeping dust and dirt out of the tool’s workings – and that means longer tool life. The shingle guide is a handy touch, and we like that it’s easily removed when it’s not needed.

In hand, this nailer feels great: light, comfortable, agile, and beautifully balanced. Loading fasteners is a breeze, depth adjustment is on-the-mark reliable, tool-free, fast and easy, and we couldn’t get the thing to jam. Roofers and contractors will love this nailer. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

And with the ability to drive up to 100 nails per minute, the RN46-1 offers two firing methods: contact trip and sequential trip. High-Capacity, Quick-Load Magazine Reduces Downtime
To help eliminate downtime, the RN46-1 has a high-capacity magazine that holds up to 120 coil nails. It accepts nails with a shank diameter of 0.120 and a length of 3/4 inch to 1-3/4 inch.

A zero nail lock-out feature eliminates dry firing when the magazine is empty, and it also indicates when it is time to reload. What's more, a patented single-action side-load canister allows for quick and easy nail loading. You simply slide the magazine door open, load the new coil of nails, and close the magazine door--it's that easy.

Designed for Comfort and Durability
The RN46-1 Coil Roofing Nailer is constructed of tough magnesium for durability on the jobsite. What's more, magnesium is lightweight, so this nailer is easy on your arms.

The nosepiece features a carbide insert for durability and long tool life, while wear guards and skid pads provide protection from damage caused by working on abrasive surfaces.

The over-molded grip provides maximum comfort and gripping ability in any weather condition. That means this roofing nailer can be used for a variety of different applications--inside and out--including exterior drywall, vapor barrier installation, vinyl siding, fiber cement siding, composition roofing, and more.
